Hey, get your crappy little car off my white dress!
Mustangs
A couple of decrepit Mustangs in a pile at Pearsonville. I think they were trying to mate and make a Pinto. Full moon, 4 minute exposure. This is pretty much straight out of the camera.
Zorak
Someday I will run out of Pearsonville Junkyard work . . . but it won’t be anytime soon. This early ’70s Thunderbird was crushed in last winter’s clean up and consolidation of the yard. Red and lime-gelled flashlights, snooted AA Maglite in the headlights. This is three 4-minute exposures, stacked for 12-minute star trails.
Peterbilt 362
An early ’70s Peterbilt 362 Cab-Over. I got an unusual high-angle on this because the body is off the frame. Lit with natural LED on the front–with the black paint, it was difficult to get enough light on there, yet not overcook the logo and headlights. Lime-gelled strobe from the rear, into the exposed engine […]
The Mummies Ambulance
A groovie ghoulie for you, it’s the Mummie’s Ambulance. This was the official vehicle of the surfpunk band. Check these guys out, they freekin rawk. Just another insanely cool item in storage at Paul’s Junkyard. These early-’60s Pontiac ambulance conversions are pretty rare these days. Finding one with this paint job, in this condition . . . […]
MOPAR Custom
Another salvage yard custom, it’s some kind of late 50s Chrysler product (edit: probably a ’59 Desoto). This whale is parked by the old barn/workshop at the Big M. Nosed, decked, roll panned, frenched, but painted rattle-can flat black and never finished. I’m sure this car will one day be completed by a new owner. […]
1951 Studebaker Champion
Here’s the rest of that Studebaker I posted that detail from yesterday. These should give those nose parts some context. Similar to yesterday’s posting, but a little more obvious, with the nose and grille in there. Same type of thing, a short exposure (30 seconds) that let me get the lighting done before the moon […]
El Cadamino
The owner says this is not a funeral procession Flower Car as most people would have you believe. It’s a home-built Cadillac pick up truck, an El Cadamino! This ’53-based custom has always been tucked away in the back corner of Big M Salvage, but this time things around it were re-arranged and I could finally […]
Scott Motors
This one’s for all the Scotts out there, you know who you are. I rolled out to Big M Auto Salvage last night. That’s a 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser, and the one on the left, a rare 1958 Edsel Bermuda station wagon. They were in deep shade, ie: total darkness. The wagon was lit with […]
Job-Rated G
An early ’50s, “Job-Rated G” Dodge, flatbed truck, one of the victims of the now cleared out Pearsonville Junkyard. This was very complex to shoot. I had to work quick; I wanted to catch the moon while it was still low on the horizon and keep the exposure short, so the moon would still appear circular […]
