’58 Buick, shot at The Big M last July.
Every Central Valley salvage yard uses raggedy old patio umbrellas to give their workers some shade in the 105° summer heat. Soon as I saw this one I knew I had to take advantage of it’s colors. I placed it in this spot to put the moon behind it, but the first exposure showed me that the moon barely shone through it at all, so I went behind it and lit the hell out of it with an LED flashlight. I was disappointed by how little the umbrella colors lit the Buick too, so I threw a wash of red light on the tire, trunk and interior. I also lit the side of that yellow ’60s sedan from a low angle to project the long shadows of the dried weeds. There’s natural LED flashlight on the trunk lid and tire too. There’s way more lighting going on here that it seems.
