More goodies from Paul’s, where Joe and I are teaching a workshop in September. This catering truck was blown up and burned on an episode of “CSI.”
This is a 493-second exposure under direct full moon light. The shady front of the truck required a little LED flashlight to pull out some details and I used a red-gelled Stinger flashlight on the interior. Because most of it was matte black from the fire, it required way more light that you can imagine. I also threw a little natural AA Maglite on the driver, so you’d at least notice him in there.
But I realized that the only way to really notice him was to actually do his portrait. There’s gelled and natural strobes and flashlights coming in here from at least 5 directions, all done in 62 seconds.
