Abandoned, ransacked and vandalized motel, Big Tuna Texas . . . I mean Mount Montgomery, Nevada. Protomachine flashlight in a totally dark space. 54-second exposure. It took many tries to get this right.
The Driving Down Highway 6 Game
A stack of long, late night exposures (totaling about 15 minutes), recording a lone car heading east on U.S. 6. Shot from the ruins of Coaldale, in Western Nevada. Full moon, Protomachine flashlight set to red.
Plein Air Filligree
Abandoned in the California High Desert. That point-and-shoot film camera is still sitting on that counter there, if anyone wants it.
Across 110th Street
Abandoned deep in the high desert avenues of Antelope Valley, on a howlingly windy, full moon night. The nearest house is miles away. The garage and driveway is a VHS tape graveyard. There’s hundreds of them, the boxes all faded and the tapes half-melted, little sand dunes building up around them.

Purple, red and lime. This was in direct moonlight, so I worked very fast (56-second exposure) to lay the light down before it had a chance to […]
Detroit Stalagmite
20-minutes under the full moon, after 2AM, at the International Car Forest of the Last Church in Goldfield, Nevada. It’s big, it’s ’80s, it’s GM. A Riviera, maybe?
Van Wyk
Inside the hangar at Eagle Field. That object in the left background is a high-wing Cessna. Protomachine flashlight set to warm white, red and purple.
Three Lugs and a Vent
Renault 4CV, stored inside the hangar with tons of other cool junk, at Eagle Field. Red, blue and white light from the Protomachine flashlight, in total darkness.
Sloppy Eater
The next afternoon, Paul picked up this Lincoln using these jaws, and sheared him in half for us. No, watching that never gets old. This was in direct moonlight, but I wanted to totally control the lighting. I had to work fast–before the moon had a chance to burn in. It took more test exposures […]
