So many fans of the Tatra! I dig these obscure Czech luxury cars too. Here’s another one of the same 2-603 II. Protomachine flashlight set to red and purple. Done as a workshop demo.
The Other Split Window
A Tatra 2-603 II , A “Lemony Snicket” movie prop car at Paul’s Junkyard. Protomachine flashlight set to red and green.
Budget Rock Showcase
Seldom seen rear view of the Mummies Ambulance at Paul’s Junkyard. Devo fans! Red and white LED flashlight.
Junkyard Frankenstein
Heat lightning over Paul’s Junkyard. This part of the yard is totally different now, all the vehicles you see here, except the fuel truck, disappeared into the shredder last winter.
The Ghost of White Trash, Past
Protomachine flashlight set to lime, purple and white. 94 seconds at 2:50 AM. This is pretty much straight out of the camera. A little burn on her eyes and crop to 4:5 and that’s it.
The Devil’s Coachman
104-second exposure. All hand-held light sources, strobe and flashlight. That’s an unbelievably uncomfortable Dave Evans in the mask, laying on broken glass. A little compositing and cloning was required.
The Purple Merge
4-minute exposure, full moon. Blended red-orange, purple and white Protomachine flashlight. Minor Photoshop composite too.
Honey, the RV’s are at it again
Paul piled them up real nice for us, didn’t he? Protomachine flashlight set to red, lime and ultramarine. Composite of two 4-minute exposures (for lighting, not star trails) and some dodge and burn. “Paul’s Junkyard” night photography and light painting workshop, October 2012.
She Rides the Rails
Home last night from the “Double-Secret Alumni Workshop” at Paul’s junkyard. A blast was had by all. Thanks to David Dasinger for bringing this creepy hand-painted doll. Once he took her out of his trunk on the last night, I wandered the yard most of the night with her tucked under my arm. Lit with […]
The Corrugated Nightmare
The mill building at the long-abandoned Atolia Mine. When I visited the site 10 years ago, this building was still filled with complex separating machinery, offices, kitchenette and a wet lab. The entire interior is gutted now. Once I saw the potential for symmetrically lining up the windows and concrete foundation inside, I made a […]
