Lost America

Still not sure why I never put this one online, everyone I showed it to seemed to like it at the time.  Cessna junk at Aviation Warehouse, El Mirage.  About 16 minutes of stacked star trail frames sandwiched with a short, lit exposure.

      I’ve sat on these for years because I can’t decide which variation I like best, so here’s all four. It seems to depend on my mood. Dusty knobs and dials on a shelf in one of the storerooms at Aviation Warehouse. Total darkness, lit with a Protomachines flashlight.

Yeah, that’s what I see anyway.  Looking into the tail of a broken B-52 on the fringes of Edwards AFB.  Late at night, with full moon and red flashlight.

Another lost 2014 image from Aviation Warehouse, a C-118 (DC-6) fuselage, outfitted for troop transport and cargo, bent with the fisheye.  Pretty sure that’s a DC-8 nose section lit pink in the background. Night, with 130-seconds of full moon light.

The old Pony Express stop, Schellbourne, Nevada, is now an abandoned motel and gas mart with an overlit rest area across the highway.  I took advantage of the location’s bright sodium vapor lights to fill the reflective stainless steel side of the pump orange, adding blue, red and minty green from the Protomachines flashlight.  There’s […]
