The Combine Vortex

The Combine Vortex

A little slow on the postings this week.  I’m in the process of reconstructing the entire lostamerica.com universe, using wordpress.  The idea is to have the site not rely on flash, so it will run on Android and iStuff.  This blog will be seamlessly integrated into the site. Huge job, but I’m over the hump on it and should be launching it around Thanksgiving with a bunch of new work.

Anyway, this image is from last month’s workshop trip when I had a night before (and after) the workshop to shoot on my own.  It’s a derelict farm combine at Munz Ranch.  I worked the North Star into the composition, so I let this one run long enough to really get some star trails going.  It’s a stack of four 6:00-6:30 minute exposures for star trails of about 25 minutes.  Lime-gelled strobe and red and lime-gelled LED flashlights.
