A fisheye view from the unrestored Scenicruiser’s top deck. The design, elegantly simple, yet unabashedly ’50s futuristic, the view epic. Whooshing down the interstate at night must have been amazing from up here, like flying through space. Due to the tightness of the quarters I couldn’t move past my tripod, so I spent about 30 minutes standing in this spot, making long exposures, and just taking it all in. Even though it stank of overflowing toilet (as every junkyard scenicruiser I’ve ever been in has) it was pure magic. The almost completely dark interior was lit with bounced, indirect natural flashlight, just enough to give some ambience and retain the subtlety of the natural colors. It’s a composite of 2 exposures: 292 seconds for the exterior ambience through the heavily tinted windows, 92 seconds for the interior, stacked and blended in Photoshop.
