Shot teaching last weekend’s workshop. I wanted to tap into concepts we were talking about in critiques while I was in the field. One was the idea of how mirror-flipping the image completely changes the composition. I’ve never put a flipped image online before, until now. Yeah, this one reads/flows much better this way. The other was shooting in portrait orientation. I can’t seem to get most landscape-minded night shooters to warm to the idea, but if you force yourself to do a night of vertical shots, you’ll see things differently when you switch back.
