24 Hours in Coaldale

24 Hours in Coaldale

For those of you new to to my photography, I like to post old work around the new year. I don’t think this one’s been online for at least 10 or 15 years? This is the same “hundred miles from anything” Coaldale, NV, gas station/motel complex that I’ve shot many times over the years, but this was my first night shoot there, back in the summer of ’98. I once stopped here in the early ’90s trying to get a flat fixed, but they were hanging by a thread even then and only the bar was open. No surprise to find it completely abandoned a few years later. No EXIF with film, so I’m guessing 6-8 minutes of full moon, on Kodak 160T film, with red-gelled flashlight under the canopy and some southbound semi trucks.
