More Dayton Mill Structures

Two more views of western Nevada’s Dayton Mill.  The heavy clouds that night made exposing for the sky and the ground in one shot virtually impossible.  I shot both of these images late at night, facing west, into the setting moon, allowing it to highlight the clouds.  Combined with the bounced sodium vapor lights of nearby Carson City and Reno, it all creates dramatic textures and colors in the sky.

The Silver Wall

Night, combined 90 second (for the sky) and 289 second (for the structure and ground) exposures.  The wall, in deep shade, was lit with a xenon Stinger Streamlight flashlight.

The Boilers

Night, combined 90 second (for the sky) and 533 second (for the structure and ground) exposures.  The interior was lit with a purple-gelled strobe.
