A few days ago I talked my old pal Bob Azzaro into going shooting with me. We took his cherry 1961 Cadillac out to Pescadero cemetery where I shot portraits with him and the car. Bombing down highway 1 in the middle of the night in this tank was a real treat. So big and floaty, it’s utterly unlike any modern cars. We drove down the wrong side of the highway for only a short way and only ran over one huge raccoon. Wear your glasses next time Bob! Seriously though, what a blast!
Nice job sitting still here Roberto. His face is lit with a Stinger Streamlight from about 25 feet in front of the car. Red-gelled strobe through the back window and purple gelled from the rear down the side of the car. The shot is all about the hat.
Naked strobe on bob from 2 sides, blue-gelled strobe under the car, red down the side too. Naked LED on the headlights too. The red was stripped in from a 2nd exposure.
I have no idea if that “Goulson” sign is for real. Goulson in a cemetery? It’s like a movie prop! Purple-gelled strobe on the trunk, red in the interior. I flicked the car’s lights on and off for a split second too. Naked LED flashlight on Bob and lime-gelled LED on the sign. Bob hated standing still for 2-minutes to do these.
There’s a bunch of blue-gelled strobe pops here–interior, grass, trunk, ground. I flicked the car’s lights on and off in this one too, but also hit the tail light area with red LED to give the impression of a more diffuse glow. Naked LED on Bob–note that you can see one of these LED light sources in the sky on the left.
