I hiked out to this familiar abandoned California farm last full moon. Last time I was here I did mostly interiors in the rotting and moldy house on the property, so I was happy to stay out in the fresh summer air this time.
CALTRANS was doing night roadwork on the freeway in the distance. As I was casing the joint, they moved their ridiculously bright work lights to a gap in the hills, inadvertently grazing them with a warm, golden light. I quickly found a foreground subject to put in front of their lighting gift and got shooting. A few minutes later they moved the lights again and the hills went dark. The rest of the lighting was added with the Protomachines flashlight, from a wide variety of directions, over the course of the 3 minute exposure.
